Bulimia nervosa, commonly known as bulimia, is mental health disorder characterized by uncontrollable binge eating past the feeling of fullness. Binge eating is followed by excessive exercise and purging done by self-induced vomiting, taking laxatives or diuretics.
Bulimia is diagnosed when patterns of behavior associated with binging and purging cycle or repeat for over 3 months. People with bulimia suffer from guilt and low self-esteem because of their behavior which often triggers more episodes of binging and purging.
